Movie Hangman — Guess the Film From the Blanks
Movie hangman is the version film fans actually want. Instead of guessing a random noun, you are staring at a row of blanks that you know resolves into a title you have seen — and the moment enough letters land, recognition arrives all at once. That flip from nothing to obvious is the whole appeal, and it does not happen with ordinary word hangman.
The bank holds around eighty titles spanning eight decades and most of the genres people actually argue about: Golden Age classics like CASABLANCA and THE WIZARD OF OZ, blockbusters from JAWS to JURASSIC PARK, the animated canon from BAMBI through ENCANTO, the whole superhero era, sci-fi from BLADE RUNNER to ARRIVAL, musicals, and recent award winners including PARASITE. Titles are picked so that a film-literate player has a fair shot without needing anything obscure.
Multi-word titles work properly here. Spaces are filled in for you from the start — you only ever guess letters — so the word-break pattern is itself a clue. A three-block title with a short middle word narrows the field long before you have spent a guess, which is exactly the kind of deduction that makes this version better than plain hangman.
Every title also carries a one-line hint that describes the film without naming it: "In space no one can hear you scream", "A DeLorean hits eighty-eight miles per hour", "A poor family infiltrates a rich household". The hint appears as soon as the round starts, so a title you half-remember becomes gettable rather than a coin flip. You still get six wrong guesses, which keeps a long title genuinely risky.
Guess by tapping the on-screen keyboard or typing on a real one; used letters grey out either way. A streak counter tracks consecutive solves and remembers your best run, and titles you have already seen are held back until the bank is exhausted. Everything runs locally in your browser with no account, no download and nothing uploaded.
