Math Games for Kids — Adding and Taking Away, Up to Ten
This is the gentlest version of the math game on the site: addition and subtraction only, numbers from 1 to 10, and a guarantee that no question ever produces a negative answer. It is built for the stage where a child has met numbers up to ten and is starting to combine them, roughly the first two years of school.
Each round is ten questions. The question is shown large in the middle of the screen and four answers sit underneath as big, tappable buttons — no keyboard, no typing, no small targets. A child can play it on a phone or a tablet without an adult driving, which is usually the difference between a resource being used and being bookmarked.
Feedback is immediate and non-punitive. A correct answer turns green. A wrong one turns red, and the correct answer turns green next to it, so the child sees the right answer every single time rather than just being told they were wrong. The next question comes along on its own after a moment, which keeps the rhythm going without an adult pressing anything.
Subtraction questions are always ordered with the larger number first. This matters more than it sounds: a child who has not met negative numbers yet and is shown 4 minus 9 learns confusion rather than subtraction. The same reasoning is why multiplication and division are left out entirely here — they live on the main math games page, for when they are ready.
Nothing is collected, uploaded, or stored. There are no ads inside the game area, no external links inside it, no accounts, and no way for a child to navigate anywhere unexpected from the game itself. It works offline once loaded, which makes it usable on a school tablet with patchy wifi or on a phone in a car.
How to play Math Games for Kids
- Press "Start round" to begin. There is nothing to set up first.
- Read the sum in the middle of the screen.
- Tap the answer you think is right from the four big buttons.
- Green means correct; if it is red, the right answer lights up green beside it.
- After ten questions you get a score out of ten and can play again straight away.
