Halloween Word Scramble — Every Letter Given, the Order Withheld
A scramble is a kinder puzzle than it looks. Every letter of the answer is already on screen, so nothing is hidden and nothing has to be guessed from nothing — the work is entirely in the order, which is why a child who finds hangman discouraging will often finish these.
The bank is thirty Halloween words, each with a one-line clue: pumpkin, cauldron, werewolf, broomstick, cobweb, skeleton and the rest. The clue matters. Without one, a jumble of seven letters is a search through every arrangement; with one, it is a word you already know, waiting to be spelled. That turns the puzzle from a mechanical exercise into a two-step one — work out the word from the clue, then find its letters among the tiles.
Tapping tiles builds the answer left to right, and a letter that cannot belong where you put it turns red immediately rather than at the end. That is the useful moment in a spelling game: the correction lands while the child is still thinking about that letter. Undo takes back the last tile, Clear empties the row, and "Give up" shows the answer if a word has stopped being fun — a streak counter runs alongside, so there is a reason not to reach for it.
These are the same thirty words as the Halloween hangman, deliberately. Playing the scramble first and hangman afterwards gets two different kinds of practice out of one vocabulary — arrangement, then recall — and the second time round the words are familiar enough that the harder game is not discouraging.

How to play Halloween Word Scramble
- Press "Start game" to draw a spooky word and reveal its clue.
- Tap the shuffled letter tiles in the order you think spells the answer.
- Watch the blanks — a letter in a position it cannot belong in turns red straight away.
- Use Undo to take back the last letter, or Clear to start the word again.
- Solve it to extend your streak, then press "Next spooky word" to keep going.
